Well - not quite. I show a dog too, but I do obedience and rally, so I get done
quickly.

That little FT-817 is perfect for the rest of the boring hours though. It is
truly everything in one radio, the only band I miss is 1200 MHz. I use two
reels of Teflon wire and an Elecraft T-1 auto-tuner.
I did look long and hard at the IC-703. But the FT-817 also does all-mode 2m
and 70cm. So I can do hill-topping with it on the V/UHF contests too.
Truth - most of our travels don't have anything 1200 MHz in the area. Only the
big cities like San Antonio and Dallas have something. For those places I have
my IC-901 set up, and my IC-T81 for at the shows.
