[ICOM] amp & ICOM question

The book says:

The Alpha 8406 does not generate or use ALC voltages to control an exciter.

For proper operation the exciter transceiver should have its power output
set so as not to over drive the amplifier input. Today's modern
transceivers have very good power output limiting. As a rule ALC is not
needed if the transceiver is less than 15 years old

Should your transceiver be older then the power output should be reduced so
voice peaks will not overdirive the transmitter under any modulation
conditions.

As I said hook up was easy and tune up was just as easy... tune and dip,
tune and dip...

Now I notice the transceiver has muted receive audio when the amp is turned
on...(affected with the on/off switch not the standby switch) I assumed a
relay connection but finding nothing yet... so it's off to bed to sleep on
it... hi hi

Hey! Thanks to everyone... always nice...73 Larry, night all...

Hi Mike,

The Pro3 does not have an initial power-output spike even if the ALC port is
not connected. If the amplifier has an ALC output, and the ALC loop is
connected, the amplifier will control the drive power.

Cheers for now, 73,

Is the Pro III output controlled by the Pro III's ALC? If so, make sure you
don't overdrive the amp. due to initial full output from the Pro III.
