[ICOM] WTB: IC-22U or IC-22S

If you really want a tight front end, try to find an IC-20
crystal controlled rig. It is a mobile unit (12-channel). It
is modular construction and the front end is a VERY narrow
five section (IIRC) helical resonator receiver. You'll need a
crystal for TX and RX and that is it! The IC-21 24-channel
fixed rig uses the same modules and has an internal 120V
power supply built in.
I expect they are VERY scarce these days. Mine IC-20 went
to become a repeater back about 1975 or so.
They were 146-148 for USA use (limit of FM authorization
back then) but can be swung down and even peak tuned
for an even narrower front end. I did the reverse and
broadened it to cover just below 144 for Air Force MARS
through 148. Power dropped to about 6W from 145-148
and about 3W on MARS and lost a bit of sensitivity, but
that was acceptable to me at the time. I drove either of
the two rigs (20 and 21) with a GLB Channelizer synthesizer.
My 21 was the second Icom that I know of in the state of
Oklahoma back in 1972. There might have been an IC-2F
or two in the state, but I never heard of any.
