SUCCESS!

Thanks for the posts folks.

A couple things... yes, N2VZ had designed the Turbo Tuner to be used at 300
baud. A few of us complained about that and firmware was available to
support 4800 baud. I have v5 firmware on the Turbo Tuner and I should have
said 9600 baud.

Here's the deal...

The tuner got confused with the rig control in use when using TRX Manager
and/or LogWindow (logging/rig control).

But I'm in the process of moving to HRD v5 beta in the main station - so I
tried HRD on the laptop in the "mobile shack"
(http://www.wa9pie.net/hamradio). And it worked!! The rig control/logging
works great and the tuner doesn't get confused and tunes in the correct
direction.

I can only assume (using Gary's comments) that these other software
applications used a different polling configuration than HRD does. So
problem solved! (As soon as Simon does laptop-to-desktop log sync - all
I'll have to do is pull into the garage, the laptop connects to my WiFi
network at home, I'll sync... shut down... and come into the shack and see
all the same log data. Perfect.)

So thanks folks. And I highly recommend HRD. The v5 beta is already better
than any others I've seen/evaluated.
