[ICOM] Original 706 LCD Display repair/replacement

The LCD on my 706 is getting dark pixels on the left edge, not in the active area of the display (yet).  Is this repairable? Are parts available?  I'm going to call Icom parts tomorow, but thought maybe someone here might know.  Some LCD's can be disassembled, cleaned with alchohol and re-assembled.  Does anyone know if the 706 display is such an animal, or is it a hermetically sealed unit?
