[ICOM] ICOM 756 Pro info request

Since I don't own one of the rigs in this series, I have not paid
much attention to mail on the 756s, but a good friend is interested
in one of these.
 
I seem to remember that there were questions about display failures
and/or maybe other difficulties.  The seller states his reason for
selling this one-owner rig is that he has just bought a Pro III.
 
My buddy is a big Drake fan, but wants to get into something a bit
more modern for use in his fifth-wheel travel trailer on vacation.
 
I'm pretty sure that any brief comments that would prove beneficial
to an informed decision on his part would be welcome.
 
I'm wondering if I should recommend a 7000 instead.
