Mel, Larry,
My website hosts an article which covers this issue on the 756Pro and
756Pro2.

Subject: Re: [ICOM] IC756pro transmit coverage
Mel: A 781 is not a 756Pro and switches in the transmit low pass filters at
a different frequency than does a 756Pro. See W0QE's web site and pay
particular attention to the 80 meter filter differences on the 756Pro and
the 781. Also note the difference on PA current draw on 5 Mhz.
http://www.w0qe.com/60m_operation.html a 756Pro with just the diode all
coverage mod will transmit on 60 meters, but will eventually damage the 80
meter transmit filter components and possibly other pa components as well. I
would not recommend doing that mod.
