[ICOM] 756 non Pro problem

Hi Steve: Sorry you have lost your driver transistors.  Is it a common problem?, No, but it is a known problem for some BJT driver transistors to fail. I have been told by an Icom tech that the drivers fail much more often than do the finals. Why? I am only guessing, but it could be since the PA is connected to the +13.8 volt supply all the time, that spikes and junk across the line can get into the PA and weaken the transistors thereby eventually causing failure. Ther receive supply is regulated and probably inoculated against spikes etc. Just a guess.

Hello All '
I have a original Icom 756 Non Pro. Some months ago it
just stopped transmitting. The receive is fine.
I recently just started to look it over I found that the finals test
fine. But both of the C1972 Drivers are bad.
Is this a common problem ? I didn't check the single C1971 yet.

Thanks in advance .... 73 Steve
