[ICOM] IC-821 Display Bulb Replacement?

I need to replace the display backlight bulbs in my IC-821.  I've got 
the service manual and so far haven't found a clue as to the best way 
to do this with as little disassembly as possible.  Can I get access 
to the bulbs by just removing the top cover, or is some disassembly 
of the front end required?
