: once tried to sell me a 2m IEC mains cord with pure silver conductors for
: around $200, because its "transient response" was allegedly superior to
that
: of your standard generic cord with stranded copper conductors.

Sure, it's better. Anything "better" is good, right???

My markup story:

When working for a distributor in 1991, I found I could puchase the same $47
dollar gel-cell batteries I used to drool over for radio projects for about
a $1.50, once the mark-up was removed and with a 25% customer discount.
