Check your power supply, staprt by wiggling the connecter at the back of the
radio.  if no change, try another power source, even batteries can produce
an incredible amount of hash, although, 999,999 times out of a million, they
are quiet.

Also, check the antenna connector itself, I have seen in rare instances
where debris across the dielectric of the SO-239 generates noise during
moving of the radio and other vibration.

If you feel safe in doing so, remove the covers of the radio to access the
point where the connector meets the circuit board and push GENTLY with a
non-conductive stick, such as a plastic chop-stick or similar item and
listen for noise generated by a cracked solder joint at the connector.
Also, when doing this, listen for noise generated by bad joints in general.
