[ICOM] Question on IC-970H

The unit was probably modified for 9600bps data (packet). The UP position probably taps the sub band
and the DOWN position probably taps the main band.

I just acquired a unit. It has a extra switch on the back marked 9600 Sub
(sw up) and Main (sw down)

Any idea what this is?
