A 7800 I own puts out 210W FM (max)
and 60W AM as rated. (dummy load,
tuner off), according to its PO meter.

On ssb, it only peaks 145-to sometimes 175W
with audio/rf controls maxed temporarily
(for test purposes) into a 50 ohm high power
dummy load. (tuner off) (also on its PO meter)

Since it does the 210W on FM, Im thinking
the SSB is adjusted low, but wonder if
others notice no 200W indications on the
PO meter setting- meaning this is typical
of the way these are factory set??? It should
do 200 like the 781 does 150??

(The eq menu and tx level controls were
maxed also, temporarily, for test purposes)
The mic is the icom 20 (newer model)

It would seem that this maxing should not be necessary
to achieve full rated output. Final voltage
is between 48 and 52.

Wonder if this has been experienced by
others. For normal operation, I keep the
ALC well within the zone, but it would be
nice to have this power curve available
if needed. KE2BP MEcker at peoplepc.com
