And with the 7700 you are effectively limited to *one* frequency in a band.
Let's not pretend that the Dual Watch is somehow of very limited use and
downplay this feature. It is a very effective feature for those of us who
know how to use it. Just because the 7k7 doesn't have Dual Watch, it makes
the feature "limited". No, that's just a poor excuse.
Not only does the ProIII allow you to listen to two frequencies at once, but
the band scope feature will still work while you are listening to both
frequencies at the same time!
Like John, I would never plunk down 5.5k of my hard earned cash to buy a
crippled radio. Yes, the 7700 is crippled in my opinion compared to the
ProIII in this regard. I think even Icom conceded to this somewhat in their
advertising campaign by suggesting to add the 7700 to the ProIII rather than
replacing it.
I'll wait for the 7600. When I buy a new radio, it needs to be able to do at
least what my old one does or else it's not even worth looking at for me.
Certainly not at the 5+k price point. I'd rather have two ProIII's and still
have a few bucks left over than a single 7700.
