[ICOM] IC-765

Hi Mike, One last thing, my 761 was SO touchy, that just the LIGHTEST
tap on the top cover would make it go deaf. Another tap and it would
wake up. I hauled her out to the shop several times and every time, I
'thought' I had the problem 'fixed' when I found loose screws. It would
work for a day or 2 and then the same thing would happen.
Since I cleaned the relay, the radio has worked perfectly for several
weeks.
The relay in question is Icom P/N 6330000490, on the relay is P/N
LY2-0-DC12V. In the 761 the Service Manual calls it RL13. However, in a
small note, it tells you to add '500' to the P/N in the Tuner unit, so
it becomes RL513.
In any case, the research I have done tells me that relay has always
been problematic in a LOT of Icoms.
HAVE FUN!!!

73 and gud luk

ron

Thanks for the reply Gary. No, the S meter is at rest on the left side
of
the meter face ... ZERO signal showing. As soon as I bang on the 20
meter
button, the audio comes alive. Had a reply from a fellow with a 761
that had
the
same issue with audio ... his was in the T/R relay and cleaning it
fixed the
problem.

As for the display, I suspect lowered voltage but I haven't been inside
the
box yet. We'll see. It could also be the result of some rough handling
in
shipment from Orlando to Fort Wayne.
