Thank you for everyones evaluations and information on my last post 
about comparing the Icom IC 706 MK II G with the IC 7000.  I spoke with 
an amateur radio outlet on the phone this last friday and he did confirm 
that some of the radios were going to have a price increase so it looks 
like I will be ordering my IC 7000 next week.   All the write ups on the 
net have been very informative and useful.   There does not seem to be 
any major issues with this radio and I think I will be happy with it in 
my 1998 E 300 D Mercedes diesel car.   Now if I can just figure out how 
to convert my car to veggie oil I will have everything set for some nice 
cross country expeditions in my car.
