I had concerns about the no power out problem and it was the year after
the 703 was out that I asked some friends at the Icom booths at Dayton
to tell what was up with it. I brought my 703+ in to them and they
showed me about the driver bias adjust. There was also a board change on
the early non plus 703's that they told me about. Anyway when I got back
from Dayton I was the one to post the driver adjust mod. Depending on
when you sent it in for the update you may have received the early fix,
which was the bias adjust after 15 seconds of keydown. Much later on
came the reduction in voltage as there were still some problems. It is
possible yours was sent in before the voltage mod. If I were you I would
look up the voltage mod and study the pics and then have the rig in
front of the screen or a photo of the cut traces on the board and see if
this had actually had been done. This may be the cause of your failure.
If the voltage mod has been done then chalk it up to something unknown
and fix it and try again. Most likely you won't have another failure. I
hope this helps and good luck, Rick.
