It depends on your perspective. My IC-735 has been performing great since
1986. I rarely hear the fan except during RTTY contest. Seems that Icom
designed the fan circuit to work very well and quiet.
I also have an FT-920 that has a similar fan operation. It comes on during
transmit and when needed during extended operation.
I'm a happy camper with the fan flow on both rigs.
