I recently sold an IC-7000 to a ham in Miami, FL. My radio was like
new and had operated flawlessly from the moment I bought it new about
18 months ago. After he received the radio, he sent me an angry email
telling me I had sold him a "lemon" and had "stolen" his money because:
1. The radio is putting out 150 watts;
2. He can only get a 1.5:1 match with his LD-7000 tuner."
I think the guy who you sold the IC-7000 is using a wattmeter that shows the output and reflective power combined.
My Drake WH-7 Wattmeter does this. So what he is seeing is 100 watts output with 50 watts reflective more or less.
He is probably a new ham and doesn't know what he is looking at. If his LD-7000 tuner can't match the antenna, then either the antenna or feed line is bad.
He may not be a jerk, just someone who needs help. Doesn't unlimited support comes with the sale of used equipment??
