Measuring fuses might be useless. As time goes, fuses become weird. The
ohmmetter can show a 100% conductivity, but under load the conductivity
suddently disappears. It would be good to try to replace old fuses by new
ones, at least just to test whether the problem is (hopefully) fuse related.

Pete: Did you actually check the fuses by measuring them? sometimes one will
look good but be open.Did you try powering the radio on a bench from a
different power source & cord? If no go with that, then its troubleshooting
with a schematic.
