Pete,
I have an IC 730 and the switch went bad. Wouldn't power up. Sent to MTS
and he used a computer type switch to repair it. Works good as new. It
could be the problem.

Subject: [ICOM] IC-730 Troubleshooting Help
Mystery problem.
The other day while transmitting on 40M mobile SSB my trusty IC-730 went
completely dead. The power cord has two in-line fuses but both are good. I
have a circuit breaker right at the battery-- that too is good. I
disassembled the radio and found an internal fuse located in an inline fuse
holder right behind the power amp sub-chassis. That too was good. The IC-730
just does not power on. I thought perhaps I had smoked the finals as it was
raining when I was transmitting and would at least come on in receive.
Voltage to the plug shows normal.
Any suggestions? I thought too perhaps the On/Off switch simply went
south -- I tried holding it in --suspect the switch is actually engaging a
relay and probably is OK. Is this a common problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.
