Mike, I agree. And don't accuse me of being an 'appliance operator'. I
KNOW that transverters with a good HF radio are excellent performers,
but then you need more RF power, etc.....I have LOTs of converters (but
just a few transverters) left.
Here's a quick 'view' of my Icom position:
761 great radio, used
756PRO another winner, bought it new
745 great, bought it new
271A FB radio, used
471A FB radio bought new
706g excellent radio, bought new.
Heck, I ain't listing this just to impress. What I'm saying is that if
Icom could make a 'companion' to the 756PRO family that covered 2, 432
(and 220), 901, etc, the rest of these babies would be on ePay, er,
eBay in a HEARTBEAT.
Heck, I even have a mint 551D and SP-20, and 251A combo in storage, all
bought new.....
I really think Icom is missing the boat here!
Just my $.03 worth (inflation adjustment!) ha ha

Shoot - I don't care a flip for the other end. They can keep the
160-10 in one
radio, and put 10m-23cm in a second radio. Remember several months ago
I
floated an idea for the IC-906 or IC-9000 as one might prefer. Based
on the
706/7000, but 10m, 6m, 2m, 1-1/4m, 70cm, 33cm and 23cm. I would buy 5
of those
and let all 5 of my IC-901As go on the E-place.
Just my 2 cents, and not adjusted for inflation.
