I'm not sure why my Lotus Notes email server will not allow me to reply to
the posts so it would appear under the correct thread - but it keeps
bouncing back with "can not post in HTML" error.... Well, I selected MIME
to be set to ASCII - not sure what the deal is. This post is set to
"Default" and seems to go ok.
Thanks to all for the info on the Twin PBT question - I now have the
service manual and have printed out the exploded view for the front panel.
I have located the S1 (PBT) encoder in the drawing and have a price of
$19.09 + $7 shipping from Ellen at ICOM - or about $26 total cost. I have
a fair amount of experience desoldering stuff, from transistors, resistors,
etc on PC boards. I use de-soldering wick and solder suckers so hopefully
I'll be able to take care of this ok... IF I screw it up, I can then order
the full PBT board.... I will ask Ellen how much the total PBT board is
when I order later today. I will also need to order the MP52 (small) knob
because I'm not sure I can get the broken shaft from the existing knob
without damage. The MP51 (large) knob should be OK.
Question: I am looking at the exploded view now - as the front panel is
removed, does the Ten-Key board or Mode board require removing to access
the PBT board?
Thanks to all for the info and help.
