You are correct. I just thought someone was thinking all you needed was a
cable. Believe if or not I know guys who get one and think they are going to
communicate with HRD or some other application. Some rigs have built in
level conversion but none of the Icoms do that I know of. I guess I did not
see all of the postings.

Larry,

But you need the USB to Serial (RS-232) cable/adapter to interface the
computer to the CT-17 ( Or Equivalent) if you only have USB ports on your
computer. The lack of serial ports is what started this thread.
