[ICOM] 14.316 Icom net?

Hi Don,

Historically, the net was on 14317 kHz, which was even worse. My
understanding is that it was carefully slotted in between the "zoo" on
14313, the "broadcasters" on 14315 and the "Southern Hemisphere Megawatts"
on 14319 and 14322. I served as NCS from 1991 to 1999, and recall that the
net frequency was the supreme test of a receiver's adjacent-channel
selectivity. A tough neighbourhood indeed!

A combination of aggressive FCC enforcement actions and a steep susnpot
decline has quietened down that part of the band significantly, but the
colour-burst QRM is still there. The net was moved from 14317 to 14316
around 2002, as I recall.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ
