The only time I've had to go into debt to buy a radio was in 1972. I bought:

   Drake T4XB, R4B, L4B, MN2000, C4, power supply and speaker
   70 ft free-standing tower
   HAM-M rotor
   Hygain TH-7 tri-band beam
   Electronic keyer
   Desk microphone
   200 feet RG-8 coax

This complete station cost me a king's ransom of $2,400.

Of course at that time my monthly mortgage payment was $104 and I was
grossing a whopping $1,000 a month.

So that station cost me about 2-1/2 months pay.

Can anyone tell me what $2,400 in 1972 dollars would be worth
today? Suddenly paying $2,600 today for a new IC-756 Pro 3 doesn't sound
so bad.

73, Dick
