It's the obvious choice for people who want to do SO2R- you buy two
(or use an existing IC756PRO), use them separately for contesting (the
7800 won't quite do this), and as a set for DXing.
It appears that two would cost about as much as a single 7800, and be
more useful for some people.

Pretty impressive with two USB ports on the front panel and two serial ports on the back and the ability to connect to another CI-V
rig along with it.
The dual watch really puzzles me though.
To add so much and yet take away a main dxing feature (dual watch) is what puzzles me, especially for a rig of this class and
especially if they want the Yaesu market share.
Guess time will tell if there will be any changes to this part.
