Yes you are correct on all points! I have a 706MKIIG and it
is a great radio. Even operate it with the detachable head
off at the home station some of the time. It has a
tremendous PreAmp for the receiver. The model that I have
you can operate on 6,2 meters and 440!
My problem with you is why would you opt to do 6 meters
when you can make so many good contacts on 20 meters when
the bands are in good condition!! LOL! In the past I have
worked so many DX stations on 20 meters when I have been
mobile!!
