Be very careful with this 60 meter mod. The problem is in the PA
filter section. Most
Icom radios switch the PA filter to the 7MHz band at 5 MHz. Trying to
run 100 watts
thru that filter section could overheat one or more of the inductors
and burn them plus
the PCB. Power should be limited to 50 watts.
This was the case for the 756 series radios. I had to replace a
filter coil in the 7MHz
PA filter section, it was totally burned up and a test latter proved
that. The coil temp
was so hot I could have burned my finger on it. So use 60 meters at
reduced power
and you should be ok.
