Overdriving of the rigs by the PSK-31 equipment?

So we were testing out some Field Day radios and antennas tonight.

We even put a mil-spec radio (SG-2000) on as the PSK31 rig...with the hope
that it would be less "noisy" than others.

No matter what we do -- our IC-718 gets "blasted" by phase noise across
several bands, whether the PSK31 transmitter is IC-706 or SGC's. (Other
radios hear it, but this one really gets pounded.)

It seems like a lot of people do PSK31 @ Field Day and don't report issues.
Are we missing something?

This is on-topic since the Icom radio is the "victim". :-)
