Hi Johnny,
That is interesting to know. How does the 718 compare to some of the older
but next level up rigs, like the 728? Would the 728 have a better receiver?
The 728 does have PBT which would be nice, but no internal keyer :(

Hi John,
The receiver of IC718 performs very well though it is
only an entry level rig. I did an A/B comparision with
my IC7800. It was not that far out.
IC718 evolves from the commercial version IC78 which
is a marine radio, For marine radio, performance in 2
- 6 Mhz which is the marine band has to be very good.
Therefore, the performance of IC718 in the low bands
is exceptionally good. This information has been
confirmed with ICOM JA.
