I totally agree that the SDR-IQ makes a wonderful panadaptor/bandscope
-- and it's not a bad receiver, either. I'm quite happy with mine. Now
I just need a coax relay with some aux contacts for RX isolation and 
TX keying control. And a downconverter for above-30MHz to 30 MHz. And 
... .

Its big brother, the SDR-14, is said to be even better.
