[ICOM] Icom 756PRO question

Yes, but it will need a bit of work, especially if you like close-quarters
CW contesting.

The Noise Blanker Drive Signal Leakage Problem can be quite severe. On CW,
the thumps and bumps can render the desired signal uncopyable.

N2EA and K1KP traced it to poor regulation on the eight-volt rail. A local
tech pegs the elegant solution at about C$60. A Q&D fix, as described by Jim
and Tony, is cheaper but requires surface-mount experience.

Either way, the price of a PRO and the fixes combined still don't add up to
a PRO-II. The PRO-II and III do have some neat bells and whistles,
particularly suited to contesting, however.

Adam, VA7OJ, has an excellent resource on his website; www.ab4oj.com

There's lots there I'd recommend reading before buying.
