I am very happy with the 1.9 kHz filter in my Mk2G. The 2.4 is too wide
for band conditions on many occasions, and the 1.9, with use of the PBT
does a good job of pulling people out.
Another plus, I work mostly CW, and with the 1.9 installed it is the
filter that is on if you don't go to Narrow in CW. It makes a big
difference and is a nice bandwidth for tuning CW w/o the 1/4 rate turned
on. I also use the 250 Hz filter as the narrow filter for CW and it
makes a big improvement to S/N as well as eliminating interference. It
is a bit narrow for tuning, but I usually tune with the 1.9, then switch
to 250 when I push the lock button. This is a mobile setup.
I have never tried the 2.8, but would think that it is wider than most
transmit filters. I guess it could be an advantage when listening to YLs
with new DSP radios set to wide.
