HI all,
Up until yesterday when I was just monitoring a frequency with this rig it
was fine. I went to use it to check into a net and had 3 watts output. The
VOX was off and the antenna is 1:1 that I used to monitor another net.
Today in troubleshooting I suddenly realized that when I was not
transmitting the heat sink temp was about 120 degrees. The fan was not
running so I am really curious as to what gives. The rig got new finals a
year ago when the originals fried because of stay voltage when the ALC
circuit failed in an old Dentron amp.
The driver circuit tests just fine, output voltage to the PA is good. I
suspect bad finals again, but want to isolate the cause first. I'll keep
digging and advise you all if I discover the cause, but any advice or
sharing of past experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and 73,
Cam Hedrick
