If it's a VX-150, it uses an SMA. At least one well-known store in
OKC (NW 23rd, just W of I-44) carries an adapter for not terribly
much money.

I rather like TNC, myself, for its sturdiness, but can understand
why a manufacturer might want something with a smaller footprint
on the actual radio. My VX-150 is pretty crowded up on the
knobs-and-connector end of things.
