[ICOM] What is wrong with SMA?

A Yaesu HT I won at a hamfest last year has a
non-BNC connector fitted. I don't know if it is
an SMA. The connector used may be a pain to
find an adaptor or direct connector for using coaxm
but the antenna fits far more securely with it than
with BNC. I have come to dislike the use of BNC
antenna connectors on HTs due to their proclivity
to wobble and eventually break the internal
connection to the RF board.

TNC would also be a valid choice as connectors
are available to use RG-58 connectors to external
antennas. TNC was once widely used for actual
mobile and portable (not handheld) cellphones.

IMHO they are fragile and hard to adapt to other applications.
Adapters have been hard to find and are expensive. Probably
due to the relative newness of them. Also haven't you heard?
Hams don't like change !!!!!!

Do I need to mention the CW debate? (:]
