[ICOM] Icom 551D no RX

Hi Harold:
            Thanks for the advice on re-seating the jumper, will check that first thing.  Also read where cold solder joints plagued the Icom 211 and 551 series, not so much the 551D. I spent an hour or two reading up on the 551D, a fellow Ham has kindly posted the Owners and Service Manuals online.  The troubleshooting guide and the Service Manual in general looks very good with helpful information and a troubleshooting flowchart, although I'm no electronic technician there may be a chance that I can repair the rig without sending it away. 
Once I have the rig in hand I will try and describe what the problem is in detail.
