Hi Dan,
You have welded the reed relay (Tyco OMR-10F) whose contacts extend a ground
on the SEND line. The relay contacts are rated at 16V/500mA non-inductive,
and the Heathkit amplifiers use a much higher voltage.
You will need to replace the relay (one hopes there was no other damage) and
install an auxiliary keying buffer.
Please refer to: http://www.ab4oj.com/icom/auxrelay/main.html or

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

I hooked up a SB-230 amp to my 756pro using the alc and send jacks. I keyed
the mic twice to test to see if was working. It worked both times but now
the send jack on the 756pro is dead shorted???? The amp says keyed? Does
anybody know what happened?
