Dear Ed and all,

Thanks for your note!

When I am in VFO mode, or in Memory Chanel mode (It makes no difference),
tuning jumps directly from 29.999 to 144.000. By the way, I cannot make the
CH # disappear from the display.

I did the mod that is supposed to unlock TX and RX. My unit is the version
with the row of eleven diodes, that you only have to remove diode #10 and
leave all diode places unpopulated.

In case you are wondering why the need to unlock, I need access to 5.305 Mhz
for an air rescue service, and 6.830 for our base in another state here in
Mexico.

Another very strange thing: I do the master reset, and everything starts up
fine. I tune, say, to 7.075 Mhz., our national SSB gathering place (So
sorry, U. S. digital hams!) Now, I need a carrier to set up my manual
antenna matcher, and go to low power on AM. From there, there is NO WAY I
can get back to LSB. In fact, after leaving AM, I can only go to USB, CW,
CW-R, and FM. I cannot even get back to AM! So I have to do a master rest
again!

And the diode removal gave me about 150-200 khz on each side of the ham
bands, but not general coverage. In fact, I have NO general coverage RX any
more! So something is very weird (besides me!).

Thanks for your ideas!

Steve, XE1UFO a.k.a. KA5SUT
