Stephen;
Most of the good USB>DB9 converters come with a cd that contains appropriate dirvers for the converter. If you don't have the cd you must go into the system and tell it that you are using which com port for the converter. The system will tell you what com port is being used. I can send you detailed information off line if you choose. There is nothing dificult about setting up for a USB>DB9 conversion.

Hello all,
I'm in the process of upgrading to a new laptop, my old one is dying.
My new one has no RS232 DB9 port, but all my Icom programming cables are
DB9. I've seen discussion previously on USB > RS232 converters. Some
are major problems, may work with one radio, not another, some work
almost flawlessly. Currently, what is a good one or ones to look for?
Thank you.
