Whatever rig one uses, the setting of mic gain, vox gain,
and anti-vox gain are critical. Mic gain MUST be set to
require CLOSE talking and minimum compression. Then
set vox gain to reliably key. Then you can set anti-vox.
If things are TOO noisy, vox simply isn't practical.

Subject: [ICOM] IC-756PRO VOX setting
Date: Mon, 30 Oct 2006 17:07:14 -0500
This past weekend while operating in CQWW-SSB I
attempted to use VOX for the first time. (I have
always before used a footswitch, but this time my
desk had a drawer which limited vertical knee travel.)
Overall my effort wasn't too successful, with the VOX
"hanging" or chattering.
So, PRO owners, what VOX settings do you use?
Environment is a Multi-2 environment with 2 amps,
other operators, host's XYL, 2 kids and black lab
drifting through the shack, and a busy home laundry
room next door. (In other words, not exactly quiet).
Suggestions appreciated & 73,
