[ICOM] Receive antenna input?

I have a PROII and when I connected my K9AY receiving antenna I observed
distortion on my transmitted signal on both 80 & 160.
I added a steering diode to operate the PROII's receive antenna relay such
that during transmit the receive antenna is disconnected and the distortion
went away.
There is no protective bulb in the PROII.
