Hi Ron,

I can also heartily endorse the IC-H16 and IC-U16. They have the same
form-factor as the IC-02/04 series, and take the same batteries, chargers &
accessories, but their internals are totally different. The H16 and U16 are
16-channel LMR radios with up to 5W output (depending on battery-pack
voltage). They are field-programmable from the front-panel keypad.  

The H16 will cover 144-174 MHz, and the U16 440-470 MHz, without performance
degradation.

The H16 and U16 have CTCSS encode and decode, a transmit inhibit function
and a time-out timer. The newer version (new logo) also has priority and
non-priority scan modes. They can be used to clone mobiles in the same
product family such as the IC-V100 and IC-U400.
