Hi Gary,

Thanks very, very much for all your work on this.

There is no question that the HT I have is one of the "old" type, as it
will not reset with the function and power on reset. It has a push
button switch inside near the Lithium back up battery that must be
pushed to reset. And I have reset it several times using this method,
although it is a real pain. It certainly would have been nice if there
was a tiny hole at the proper place to get to that reset button.

I have tried all of the things you listed in reference to function and
"7". I think you hit it when you said that you must be standing on your
head and whistling while you do it. Only thing is, that didn't even
work!!!!

I am certainly leaning to the fact that it may have had its diode matrix
changed by an earlier owner. The reason I say this is I would expect
the frequency display to "go away" once I hit the Function and then 7,
and display either nothing, or maybe 00 or some such, indicating I was
in to the offset menu area. To put it another way, I would expect
similar to when using Function and "1" to set the tones. When I do
that, I get a "00" that I can change. When I try to get to the offset,
the frequency display stays the same, and never changes. Basically, it
seems that the microprocessor does not know I am trying to talk to it.
Nothing changes on the display.

So the next question is this: does anyone know what the diode matrix
should look like to get it to work properly?

Gary, I really appreciate your exercising your grey matter. What is it
they say about "Use it or loose it"? Sounds like you are really using
it!

Thanks.

73,

Ken, W8EK
