[ICOM] Measurements IC-706 MkiIIG vs IC-7000

If one of the list members has both a IC-706 MkIIG and a IC-7000 I would
appreciate a comparative measurement.  I have my 706 control head mounted on
the front of the ash tray using the standard slide-in bracket. My shift
lever comes right up to the ICOM tuning knob when I shift into park. I am
considering an IC-7000, but only if the measurement from the back side of
the slide-in mount to the front of the knob will be no more than on the 706.
I have all the other measurements, but this is one that ICOM does not
provide.

Also, I assume the 7000 control cable is different from the 706 cable, but
by any chance is the power cable the same?  

Also, is the 7000 display easier or harder to read in sunlight than the 706?
