Based on Sherwood Engineering's receiver test data (considered by most to be the best test data available), the Icom 7000 shows a close in IMD dynamic range of 63db at 2khz spacing. This is how well the receiver will perform under "real world" contest and DX conditions, and it is about equal with several radios from the mid 80s-The Yaesu FT1 and FT980, and the late 70s Kenwood TS520. The Icom 735 from the mid to late 80s and early 90s came in at 68db at 2khz spacing, or 5 db better in dynamic range than the IC7000. The Icom 720A from the late 70s was about 15db better than the IC7000 at the close in spacing.
