If you want to see an awesome virtual radio program check out Kenwood's RCP-570 for the TS-570 series or RCP-95 for the TS-870. Kenwood gave these programs away FOR FREE with their radios. Not only did they have pre-built front ends for differing modes such as HF Phone DX chasing or CW rag chewing station, etc. but you could also build up your front panel any way you like using buttons, knobs, sliders and you assign radio functions or readout values to each GUI input or output.

This is my dream interface, programming without the code getting in my way <g>. I had tons of fun using this with my 870, but alas, I recently traded it for a 756Pro (which I love).

The good thing is that since Kenwood uses much of the same commands for most of their radios, these programs work for many of the Kenwood radios.

While there are some programs written for specific Icom radios that will work with many of their other radios but none have the flexibility of defining your own complete front end. That would be something I would be happy to pay for.

You can still download RCP-570 for free from Kenwood's site and play with it even without a radio plugged in. The company that produced this code for Kenwood is (was?) called Dynanet Corporation in Coron del Mar, CA. They really did a great job with this interface.
