[ICOM] PW-1 What does this mean?

Harry,
Well with very low power like 5 watts it does tune up but when you increase
exciter wattage slightly and I mean slightly, it immediately kicks into
protect mode. There isn't even a chance to see if the ALC is beyond the 12
o'clock position.
I will reduce the ALC setting and try again. I can guarantee you that the
ALC was originally set correctly and I monitor the ALC pretty much all the
time. I had it set just below the 12 o'clock position.
OK - even with the ALC setting fully counterclockwise, once power is
increased a little it goes into protect mode. I should point out that the
same result occurs with the Field that is in position 2.
Now I will disconnect the Field and set the 1&2 position to 1 and see what
happens. Nope - Same results.
Harry, at least you have come up with a few ideas. There is just no logic
why yesterday it worked just fine and today is a bust.
I guess I'll wait and make that fateful call to Seattle on Monday and see
what the Icom boys will be able to tell me.

Any chance the ALC is not properly adjusted thereby throwing the amp into
protection?
