It must be soldered in and it first requires the removal of the board and 
most electrical connections to it, a poor way of doing things. If you have 
the IC-728 operations manual it shows you how to do it.

I've got an IC718 on order. I'm trying to decide on a cw  filter. The one 
for
my IC746 just drops in. Is that the same way for the IC718  or must it be
soldered in?
